- Abstract
- Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are challenging to treat despite various existing methods. Stress on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) leads to an accumulation of reactive oxygen species, promoting inflammation and cartilage degra-dation. Resveratrol, a natural polyphenol, inhibits inflammatory pathways and suppresses chondrocyte apoptosis, making it a promising candidate for TMD treatment. This review analyzes six studies with 3 kinds of animals on the intra-articular application of resveratrol for treating arthritis. This paper aims to elucidate the potential of resveratrol administrations into the articular cartilage to improve severity of arthritis, providing a foundation for future research and clinical investigations.
